Hi,

I am interested in a dog to guard my property and be a companion. I live in Katoomba at the end of a culdesac. Next door is a sheep field. I will soon have a goat that shares the 1800m2 area out the back of mine and my neighbours homes. The surrounding fence is approx. 4ft high. My intention is to run a wire rope [with a long dog leash attatched] between 2 star posts concreted in the top and bottom of my area within the 1800m2. My area being approx. 900m2 and on a steep slope. Therefore the goat will have the chance to get out of the dogs area.

Is an akita pup likely to learn to live side by side with goats as part of its family? I intend to have a different goat each year.If you think an akita suitable, what further advice can you give?

i have never had issues with loosing the top spot to one of my dogs, but your 'Who's in Charge Here???' section is very educational and has alot of useful information!

I think it is fantastic that all your puppies are sold on spay/nueter contacts. the akita is a very unique breed of dog and is not the dog for everyone,thats why i feel your application for pontential buyers is an excellent idea after all it is the akitas reputation on the line
and breeder if placed incorrectly. keep up the good work

You have love dogs and congratulations on your compulsory questionaire. More breeders should do this - no matter the breed. I owned two akitas, litter brother and sister. Unfortunately, I lost my beautiful girl 4 weeks ago aged 8. She had been ill for some time - we tried everything we could but to no avail. Maybe one day I will replace her - when my heart has healed a little.

Just wanted to comment on your beautiful pic's of your Akita's.
As a proud owner of a gorgeous bitch I can relate to the hardwork that goes in to being a responsible Akita owner.
My girl Nikita is a big baby, and is now a gorgeous 4 year old. She is very wolf lke with a very black face in colouring and has such a stubborn streak! - although I remain the Alfa!!!
Fantastic with my 11year old son and his friends although not to great with strangers unknown.
Amazingly protective house dog who has tought me so much more about dogs and love the last 4 years than in my entire 35 years as a dog owner & breeder!
Would never have any other breed!
